Nothing in these terms removes or limits any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Business details
Who provides the service.
These Terms & Conditions apply to services supplied by Ethan Sims, trading as Ethan's Auto Care (“Ethan's Auto Care”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Bookings
When a booking becomes confirmed.
A booking request is not guaranteed until we accept and confirm it through the booking system, text, telephone, email or social media message.
By booking, the customer confirms that they are at least 18, are authorised to arrange work on the vehicle, have supplied accurate information and accept these terms.
We may decline a booking if the work is outside our service area or capabilities, sufficient time is unavailable, the location is unsuitable, or the work cannot be completed safely or legally.
Services
What is included and how long it may take.
Interior clean
From £5Timing depends on vehicle condition and the work required.
Exterior clean
From £5Timing depends on condition, weather and access.
The work included is the work shown on our current booking page or otherwise agreed before the appointment. Times are estimates rather than guaranteed completion times.
Unless specifically agreed, standard services do not include machine polishing, paint correction, scratch or dent removal, engine-bay cleaning, mould remediation, pest treatment, bodily-fluid or hazardous-waste removal, upholstery repair, headliner saturation, or guaranteed removal of permanent stains and odours.
Pricing
Starting prices and extra work.
All advertised prices are starting prices. The final price depends on the vehicle's condition, the requested work and any relevant circumstances identified before work begins.
- We confirm the price, or how it will be calculated, before starting.
- Extra charges may apply for excessive pet hair, sand, mud, rubbish, staining, smoke residue, food, difficult access or unusually heavy soiling.
- If the vehicle differs materially from the information or photographs supplied, we may revise the price, reduce the work or decline the service.
- We will not knowingly carry out chargeable additional work without the customer's agreement.
A quotation is based on the information available when it is issued and may be revised before acceptance if that information proves inaccurate or incomplete.
Payment
When payment is due.
Payment is due immediately after the service is completed unless another arrangement has been agreed in writing. The current accepted payment method is cash.
The customer should inspect the vehicle when the work is complete and raise any visible concern before we leave where reasonably possible. This does not affect statutory rights.
Cancellation rights
Distance bookings and the 14-day period.
Where a consumer books online, by telephone or by message, they will normally have a legal right to cancel the service contract within 14 days after the day the contract is made, without giving a reason.
If the customer asks us to begin the service during the cancellation period, they expressly request early performance. If they cancel after work has started, they may need to pay a proportionate amount for work supplied up to cancellation.
If the service is fully completed within that period after the customer expressly requested early performance and acknowledged that the cancellation right would be lost on full completion, the cancellation right ends once the service is fully performed.
Cancellation may be communicated by telephone, email, message or post. Nothing in these terms limits rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other law that cannot legally be excluded.
Appointment policy
Changes, cancellations and lateness.
Give as much notice as possible
No automatic cancellation fee applies unless a separate deposit or cancellation term was clearly agreed before booking.
Unexpected circumstances
We may delay, shorten, rearrange or cancel due to weather, illness, equipment failure, travel disruption or lack of safe access.
Repeated non-attendance
Future bookings may be declined or require a reasonable deposit.
Reduced service time
If the vehicle is inaccessible, we may wait, reduce the service or treat the booking as missed.
Customer responsibilities
What the customer must provide.
- Ensure the vehicle is legally parked, accessible and safe to work around.
- Provide any parking permission, gate code or access instructions.
- Ensure work is permitted at the location.
- Provide safe access to water and electricity where agreed.
- Remove valuables, money, important documents, fragile items and loose belongings.
- Tell us about alarms, sensitive electronics, loose trim, leaks, faults, wraps, modifications and known damage.
- Secure pets and keep children and other people away from the working area.
- Provide keys where access to locked areas or moving the vehicle has been agreed.
Vehicle condition
Safety, contamination and excluded materials.
The customer must disclose severe contamination or anything that could create a health or safety risk, including mould, needles, sharps, chemicals, fuel, pests, faeces, vomit, blood or other bodily fluids.
We may refuse, stop or limit work where a vehicle or location is unsafe, unhygienic beyond our equipment or training, or likely to damage the vehicle, our equipment or another person's property.
We do not guarantee complete removal of stains, smells, pet hair, tar, sap, mineral deposits, embedded dirt or damage. Child seats are not removed, dismantled or refitted unless expressly agreed.
Liability
Pre-existing damage and responsibility.
We will use reasonable care and skill. The customer should tell us about damaged, loose, worn, repaired or non-standard parts before work begins.
- We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, wear, corrosion, paint failure, loose trim, weakened seals or electrical faults not caused by us.
- We are not responsible for valuables or belongings left in the vehicle.
- We are not responsible for damage resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the customer.
- We are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses that are not a natural result of our breach.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or a customer's statutory rights.
Weather and access
Outdoor working conditions.
Exterior work may be postponed, altered or stopped where rain, lightning, extreme temperature, high wind, ice or another condition makes the work unsafe or likely to produce an unsatisfactory result.
The customer is responsible for ensuring any water or electricity supply is safe, functional and authorised for use. We may stop work if a supply, cable, socket, hose, surface or location appears unsafe.
Photographs
How images may be used.
We may take photographs before, during and after the service to document vehicle condition, work completed, damage or a complaint.
Identifiable photographs will not be used for advertising or social media without the customer's permission. Permission may be withdrawn for future use by contacting us.
Service quality
Reasonable care and skill.
Services will be performed with reasonable care and skill. Results depend on the vehicle's age, materials, condition, previous damage and the limits of the booked service.
If a service has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill, the customer may have legal remedies such as repeat performance or an appropriate price reduction.
Complaints
How to raise a concern.
Please raise concerns as soon as possible, ideally before we leave or within 48 hours of the appointment, so the issue can be inspected fairly. A delay does not automatically remove statutory rights.
Contact us with the booking date, vehicle details, a description of the issue and relevant photographs where available. We may offer repeat performance, corrective work, a partial refund or another lawful remedy where appropriate.
Personal information
How customer data is used.
We use customer information such as names, telephone numbers, email addresses, addresses, vehicle details and booking history to manage enquiries, provide services, take payment, maintain records, handle complaints and meet legal obligations.
We will not use personal information for unrelated marketing without a lawful basis. Please read our Privacy Policy for more detail.
General terms
Final legal provisions.
- Changes: We may update these terms. The version accepted at the time of booking normally applies.
- Severability: If any part is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply.
- No waiver: A delay in enforcing a right does not mean that right has been given up.
- Third parties: No person other than the customer and Ethan's Auto Care may enforce these terms, except where the law provides otherwise.
- Governing law: These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
